ROTC offers a Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Cargoes course. This course is developed for terminal and port employees of all levels willing to acquire and improve their knowledge of Dangerous Good and Hazardous Cargoes.

Upon completion of the course, the participants will have profound knowledge of the different general and specific hazards in ports and terminal operations, good understanding on how to react to chemical spills, and understand the setting up of procedures and implementations of safety systems. The Course is in accordance with IMO Model Course 1.10.


Topics that will be addressed during the course are:

  • Relevant Chemistry;
  • Definitions and Classification;
  • Personal Protection;
  • Safety Requirements;
  • Documentation;
  • Packaging and Handling;
  • (International) Legislation for Transport and Storage;
  • Cleaning Waste and Spillage;
  • Cleaning Waste and Spillage;
  • Fire Fighting Theory.

Basic English comprehension skills.

Additional Information
  • Training is provided in Portuguese and/or English;
  • Courses will be executed at the premises of ROTC in Pemba, courses may also be executed in-company or at an alternative training location;
  • Accommodation could be arranged onsite at ROTC Pemba;
  • Participants successfully completing the course will receive a ROTC Certificate of Proficiency.
